Terms and Conditions

These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of DormTea (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility

You must have access to a valid .edu email address to create an account. The Service is intended for college and university students; it is not directed at children, and you must be at least 13 years old to use it.

2. Your Account

Sign-in is passwordless: we send a one-time code to your .edu email. You're responsible for keeping access to that email address secure, since it's how your account is verified.

One account may submit one rating per dorm. Submitting a new rating for a dorm you've already rated replaces your previous one rather than adding a second.

3. Anonymity

Your identity is never displayed alongside anything you post — reviews, photos, and votes all show as coming from "Anonymous Student." Internally, content is tied to your account only to enforce the one-review-per-dorm rule and prevent duplicate voting. See our Privacy Policy for exactly what we store.

4. Your Content

You retain ownership of the reviews, ratings, and photos you submit ("User Content"). By posting User Content, you grant DormTea a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, display, and distribute it as part of operating the Service.

You're solely responsible for your User Content. Don't post anything you don't have the right to post, or anything that infringes someone else's copyright — see our Copyright Compliance Policy.

5. Suggesting Dorms

Signed-in users can add a dorm that isn't already listed. It appears on the site immediately. We review additions after the fact and may remove any that are inaccurate, duplicated, or added in bad faith.

6. Advertising

DormTea may display advertisements from third-party ad networks. We are not responsible for the content of third-party ads or for the practices of the companies behind them. Displaying an ad is not an endorsement of the advertiser or its products.

If and when third-party advertising is enabled, our Privacy Policy and CA Notice at Collection will be updated to reflect it, including any associated cookies or tracking technologies and the opt-out rights described in our Do Not Sell My Personal Information page.

7. Disclaimers

DormTea is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. Reviews reflect the opinions of individual anonymous users, not DormTea — we don't verify the accuracy of any review's contents, and we don't guarantee the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, DormTea and its operator are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, or from any decision you make (such as a housing decision) in reliance on content posted by other users.

9. Termination

We may suspend or terminate access to the Service for any account that violates these Terms or our Site Guidelines, with or without notice.

10. Governing Law

DormTea is operated out of New Jersey, and these Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, without regard to conflict-of-law principles — regardless of the state or country you access the Service from. Any dispute not resolved informally will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in New Jersey, and you consent to that jurisdiction.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms as the Service evolves. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated Terms. Material changes will update the "Last updated" date above.
