DormTea Ambassadors

Every hall has a truth nobody's written down yet.

DormTea is the anonymous, .edu-verified place students check before they pick a dorm. An Ambassador makes sure their own campus actually has honest reviews on it — starting with their own room.

Barr Hall

Rutgers University · Busch

4.0

"Lighting was rough so bring lamps, but the RAs were easygoing and the communal bathrooms actually stayed clean all semester."

Why bother

What's actually in it for you

No salary, no contract — just real leverage on a real problem your own campus has.

01

You go first, on the record

Most dorms on DormTea are still sitting at "0 ratings," waiting for someone honest to break the seal. Be that person for your own hall.

02

A real line for your résumé

"Campus Ambassador, DormTea" — with a real responsibility behind it: getting your school's housing intel out of group chats and into the open.

03

You end up in the build log

Every school we finish mapping gets its own dated entry in DormTea's public changelog. Get your school there, and you're named as the reason it happened.

04

First dibs on gear

Stickers and DormTea swag, first shipped to the campuses that got there first.

The playbook

What you'd actually do

No dashboard, no quota — just four things, timed to when they actually matter.

Week one

Verify, then review your own room

Sign in with your .edu email and rate your own dorm — honestly, on room quality, cleanliness, quietness, social life, location, and the rest. This is the review that gets your hall off zero.

Ongoing

Spread it hallway by hallway

Drop your dorm's DormTea link in your floor's group chat. Ask three or four people to add their own review — the goal is more honest opinions, not just more stars.

As needed

Fill the gaps

If a hall at your school isn't listed yet, use Suggest a dorm at the bottom of any page. It goes live immediately — no approval wait, no ticket to file.

Room-draw
season

Show up when it counts

When housing selection opens each spring, that's the one week incoming and returning students are actually looking. A single post in your school's housing subreddit or class group, pointing to real reviews, does more good then than any other time of year.

Your own link. Each Ambassador (and each club we partner with) gets a personal link that starts with dormtea.com/r/. When someone opens it we count the visit, and if they then sign up and review a dorm, we count that too. We tally three numbers per link: visits, new accounts and reviews. You'll hear these totals from us, and only once your link has at least five reviews, so a number can never point to one classmate. We never share who wrote which review, and reviews stay anonymous on the site. The link stores a small cookie for 30 days so a sign-up can be matched to it; the privacy policy has the details.

Ground rules

The three things that matter more than growth

Every review is a real opinion

Write your own review. Never post on someone else's behalf, even with their blessing.

The bad reviews are the point

Don't lean on anyone for a specific rating. Honest and unflattering beats polished and fake.

Anonymous means anonymous

Reviews aren't attributed to anyone. Don't pressure a floormate to reveal which one they wrote.
